Mirror | Celebrity bodyguard reveals the strangest demands he’s received working with A-Listers
Bodyguard to the stars Simon Newton has revealed what it’s really like protecting Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift – and who had the most demands.
Simon continued: “A common theme among the stars in the music industry is that they seem to always like vans – but only really nice vans. The singers need to have the room.
“I have worked for Halsey a lot and she always wants a really nice luxury van. Rita Ora, the same thing.
“I haven’t worked for him, but people like Drake always have their own vans and they all pimped out. Most of the time I have looked after women, so they are less bothered about that.”
Despite all the glitz and glamour, Simon says the job comes with some serious hours – and he doesn’t sleep until his clients do.
He then has to get up super early to plan the security for the day ahead, depending where they are going.

Sharing what it was like working with global superstar Taylor Swift, Simon revealed she is ‘no different’ to anyone else.
Of supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, he said they are ‘quite similar’ and surprisingly ‘down to earth good people.’
Spending most of his time with Bella, Simon shared that fame ‘hadn’t gone to her head’ and she ‘hadn’t changed herself very much’.
When he started working with Kendall Jenner, he expected her to be ‘difficult’ – but in reality she was ‘always good to me and treated me well.’

These days Simon, who served in the British Army for four years before becoming a bodyguard, owns his own security company in London.
He has also starred in several action movies including Green Zone with Matt Damon and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows.
Asked if any of his famous clients had ever hit on him, Simon said ‘yes’ but was careful not to name names.
“When you are around them you are just the same as them,” he admitted. “When you are out together you tend to forget who it is, but I always made sure to stay professional.”
One of the biggest problems Simon says his clients faced as intrusion from the paparazzi who follow them everywhere.
He said fans just wanting a picture and autograph are not so bad, but revealed photographers in America can get ‘extremely aggressive compared to London’.
